2013 Boston Marathon — Part 1

Haven’t felt up to putting my race thoughts down yet. Boston4.15.13 A local newspaper asked today for an interview.  I spoke totally unprepared.  The next 10minutes were a rambling, unorganized catharsis.  I recalled the emotional call from my sister making sure I was safe and the moment of realization that my wife was down at the finish waiting for me just an hour before the bombing.

Fortunately, for my wife and I, we were in a cab heading to the airport when the tragedy struck.  I still feel a solidarity with everyone that was involved.  We all struggle to understand the motives of people that deal in destruction.  But we also share the common identity of being runners.  To endure, is at our core.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of this meaningless act of terrorism.  My first Boston Marathon was always going to be a special memory but now it is even more singular.

Thanks for reading,

Doc
